    Plato Could Have Contradicted Historical Record in Atlantis Story of Critias and Timaeus

    Plato knew that the Strait of Gibraltar was not blocked by Atlantis submerged (because greek ships were sailing to Huelva and Cadiz), and he knew of the flood of Ogyges and Dardanus about 900 years (not 9,000 years) before the time of Solon, but he did not contest those portions of the story of Atlantis for reasons known only to him.
