    Abraham’s Forefather Arphaxad of Arpachiya His Progeny Kaldu of Arrapha and Urkesh Ur of Chaldees

    In the Nuzi Tablets is written that Arip-hurra was the father of Chaldea, Nuzi an ancient city in the ice age kingdom of Arrapha (today’s Kirkuk) named for Arphaxad who was a son of Shem, and west they settled too, for instance at Ur of the Chaldees (where later Abraham was born), their work the Halafian pottery of that region. Arphaxad’s first buildings were probably at Arpachiya very near Irbil (Mosul) built apparently by Pelasgians because arbil or arbor meant high place.
